I just got Nina’s new title certificate from her new Barn Hunt title and today she earned another Barn hunt title!!! She earned her novice level title today!
To achieve this title she had to find and let me know where a rat was, climb on a bail of hay, and run through a tunnel made by bails of hay. They protect the rats in pvc tubes with breathing holes. In the novice level there are three tubes hidden. One tube is completely empty, another tube has dirty bedding from the rats, and the third tube holds a live rat. The dogs need to be able to determine which tube has the live rat. In the novice level there is only 1 rat that they need to fine. In the next level up, open, there will be one empty tube, two tubes with dirty bedding, and two rats.
They need to have 3 qualifying runs to earn their RATN, which is the novice title. Runs are timed, so they need to find the rat, go through the tunnel and climb on the hay in less than the given time period.
Nina LOVES hunting for rats! She has also been taking nose work classes for the past 2 months, which she also adores! Nina loves hunting and sniffing things out, even more than she enjoys agility. She is still taking agility classes, but right now I am only entering her in Barn Hunt trials as far as competitions go.
Barn Hunt titles starting with the novice level up, are eligible to be submitted to AKC and will appear on their AKC papers and certificates.
Blessings and love,
~Liana M. & the Pixie Schnauzers
